Mate - I recall Mattlab stating on one of the streams (I think) that pre-orders are only going to be made available for digitial copies at this point in time.
I would guess that retailers may open up preorders at whatever time they are advised of confirmed shipping dates etc.
Boxed copies may well never exist for this game. But if it's a massive success then in time they will get it distributed through every channel possible I guess, including traditional boxed.Originally Posted by Chazzagm93

Prefer boxed copy's as when I don't have Internet I can play them where as steam I don't think let's you

You can use steam offline. Obviously you need the net connection to download initially and then apply updates. But once installed you can just play online or offline. Unless of course this game requires a connection to work - that would really annoy ppl though so I doubt it!
Retail partners can be digital games. That doesnt mean phisically copies.
He did mean physical copies, though. You'd have to find the original thread to see that and I can't be bothered finding it for you.
Atari made a contract with Namco bandai for physicall distribution.
Atari do not carry the financial risk for this.
Just the benefit.
