I think the space surrounding your park should be more realistic. In RCT3, there's a huge space of nothingness surrounding your park, with a few objects or buildings off in the distance. You should be able to choose whether you want your park in the city, or in a rural area, or in another place, and have it look like that surrounding your park. This would make the game much better in my opinion.
Agreed. Look at Disneyland. It's right in the middle of the city.
That would be nice but more detailed surroundings require more resources which would be taken away from actually gameplay. For this reason I can care less what the surrounding really looks like (as long as it's not just black).
Just take a look at many sports video games. In this case the crowd is the surroundings. They are always less animated and detailed than the actually gameplay itself

Not necessarily just Disneyland. There's a theme park in the UK called Alton Towers, built on the grounds of an old manor home, it's surrounded by woodland, but also has a little town (Alton, very nice there) close by. Having something like that could add realism, plus introduce new challenges. Alton Towers is constantly getting hit by complaints from a minority about noise; if that sort of thing were implemented into RCTW, it might be fun.
