Disney Heritage - It All Starts with a Castle

After the construction of Disneyland, Disney met with the mayor of St. Louis to discuss plans for the construction of a new theme park in the riverfront area of St. Louis, which was undergoing a major redevelopment for the city's bicentennial. Walt even had Imagineering draw up plans and design new attractions for the park.

For several reasons, plans for the park fell through. By July 1965, Disney announced that plans for the park would not move forward, because of a dispute over the financing and ownership of the park, and Disney's desire to focus his attentions on Florida for what would become the construction of Walt Disney World.

Now all these years later Walt Disney's plan's have come full circle, Disneyland and Disneyworld are more successful then even Walt imagined, and now with Disneyland Shanghai under construction, Disney has turned their attention back to the US. Rumor's of a third park have been mentioned for decades with Texas being the top contender but let's not forget Walt's own origins. You see Walt grew up in Missouri. Disney based his “Main Street, USA,” upon the streets of small town America, particularly the buildings in downtown Marceline, Missouri. In fact, Disney paid a visit to Marceline in 1946 and likely did research for his park design. In 1938 Disney had written, “More things of importance happened to me in Marceline than have happened since—or are likely to in the future.”. And with that I'd like to announce Disney's newest Park now under construction. Disney Heritage, located in the Ozarks of Missouri, pays tribute to the man himself, his heritage and to America. A far cry from the original Disney America, that Disney had imagineered in the 90's, more akin to it's two sister parks, and taking inspiration from it's international cousins, but also to be wholly unique and a one of a kind experience to it's visitors. And now let's take a look at our main centerpiece, Belle's castle.

As construction continues I'll provide you all with concept art, blueprints, and video blogs of it's construction. This will be one of my greatest creations I've ever done, maybe even my masterpiece in RCT3. I hope everyone enjoy's the journey with me.

You can follow along with the construction on my Twitch channel, and the time lapse videos on and video blogs on Youtube, and of course here as well.

With Belle's castle now pretty much complete I turn my attention to the entrance and Main Street. As I mention in Ep. 4 of my "Park Project" youtube series. What I'm asking now is comments, and suggestions for our Main street USA, although I want to take inspiration from the other Disney parks, I also want to be original and offer some new. So let's hear your thoughts on what storefront's and buildings should make into Heritage Street.

This is something I've been waiting for. I'm a huge Disney fanatic and would love to see this finished. I guess we need to see more before we can give more input.

    Looks great so far!

Thanks guys.. Sorry for the delay in a response. I didn't get any notifications that there had been replies here. Anyway I have a new update for you nothing huge, but a quick look.

I think I'd like to find a better set of windows for the diagonal sides of the central tower, and maybe some different iron archways over the entry path. I might end up having to make something myself but if there's somethign I'm missing I'd like to know

Thoughts, comments, suggestions on tweaks or changes?
