How are people making custom content for RCTW?

  2. #2
You can model it in and 3d editing software such as blender and then upload it through Unity with a plugin (I'll try and find the user guide although it is out of date as its a community document)
The UGC system is pretty buggy though. If you are wanting to make some Forgath or Majherbhead have both made a fair amount and could probably help you

    By using 3 different programs

1 - Blender = Used to create objects and items or edit/modify them
2 - Gimp = Used to create or edit/modify textures
3 - Unity 5.4 = Used to Import and finalise pieces. And export them ready for use in game

I have no videos myself of Blender or Gimp. But I did do 2 separate videos on how to import to RCTW from Unity, 1 for Piece by Piece and 1 for single UGC assets.

The videos I watched to familiarise myself with Blender (And still do to be honest) are here

    Very helpful links indeed.

I have found tutorial vids from Blender Guru useful to get into using Blender:
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VT5o...qe4iHGfkCmMJ0P

    a few tips:
    - start with something small. Large ideas may sound / look appealing, but often get frustrating to complete. I admit guilt!
    - dont be afraid to make mistakes / errors.
    - enjoy what you are trying to make.

If you have more questions, we are happy to help out. We wont have all the answers, best place for that will be the net.

Thanks for the information everyone. It's something I've been interested in doing. I've done some 3D modeling in the past but it's been awhile. I've used Blender and Gimp before but not for awhile. I may try modeling a few simple things and then share them. Can you use Sketch Up? Or is it just Blender?

You can use every Modelling program unity supports.
Here is a link to the unity manual, there is a list of links with information how you can import different model files:
